How we contribute to sustainability

As an innovative producer of bathroom products and sanitaryware, we’re very interested in sustainability. We’ve already developed technologies and processes that contribute to sustainability and put them to good use – but we have even more goals. Let’s take a closer look at one of these here.

Joining Initiative RE 100

 

We joined the international environmental Initiative RE100 – an important step towards achieving defined sustainability goals by 2040. RE100 stands for “100% Renewable Energy”.

 

RE 100 is an international environmental initiative led by NGO “The Climate Group” in partnership with the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project). This partnership encourages the disclosure of information on climate change. Founded in 2014, RE100 aims to accelerate the transition to renewable energies. Over 400 prominent global companies have already joined this initiative.

Steps towards an emission-free society

 

By joining RE100, we at TOTO Group are committed to expanding the use of renewable energies at all our global locations in line with regional circumstances and installing systems to generate solar energies at production facilities. This step should ensure that by 2040, 100% of the electricity we use to conduct our business will come from renewable energy sources.

 

We’ve also planned to cut back our energy use to improve CO2 emissions in the various markets and countries. This involves updating and retrofitting our production facilities accordingly.

We have locations around the world – and transitioning to renewable energies will benefit many people and the environments in a number of different countries. And that’s exactly what we want to achieve. We intend to do even more to support an emission-free future for our world. Making this contribution is really important to us. This is why we’ve taken several steps to help combat global warming.

 

  • By joining RE100, we’ve committed to expanding the use of renewable energies at all our global locations in line with regional circumstances. This step should ensure that by 2040, 100% of the electricity we use to conduct our business comes from renewable energy sources.
  • It’s necessary to report on the progress of these measures regularly and be held accountable for them.
  • RE100 reports this progress annually.

Important elements of our philosophy

 

An important part of TOTO’s philosophy is to be a stable, viable company that makes valuable contributions to improving society – one that people around the entire world can trust. This is why our company strategy aims to go beyond a carbon-neutral and sustainable society. Instead, we want to promote and establish a clean, comfortable and healthy lifestyle by 2030. Joining RE 100 is an important element in realizing our philosophy. 

We want to advocate for the environment and the resolution of social problems in the scope of our business activities. This also includes contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals defined by the United Nations.

You’re finally ready and your place looks lovely. You’ve set the table, polished the glasses, prepared the meal, opened the wine, poured water in carafes.
